Unlike standard embroidery, which is limited by stitch count and thread color, a custom printed sublimation patch lets you reproduce full-color images, gradients, and fine detail with no loss of accuracy. Your design is permanently dyed into the fabric fibers, then outlined with an embroidered border — giving you the color range of print with the finished, tactile edge of a traditional patch.

How It Works

After placing the order – Send your image file to email smile@mottopatch.com and it’s printed exactly as submitted, with the embroidered edge of chosen color added for a finished look. Files are not modified or re-touched. Need a collage, cleanup, or custom design built from scratch? That’s available as a separate private order service – just ask.

The sublimation process bonds ink directly into the fabric, so colors stay vivid through normal washing and daily wear — no cracking or peeling, unlike vinyl or DTF transfers.

Wondering how to apply these patches? There are 3 backing options to choose from. To sew on, use black thread to hand-stitch the patch onto your favorite item. This method ensures a strong and long-lasting attachment, so you can flaunt your individuality confidently.

How to iron on an embroidered patch?

1. Preheat the glue side of the patch with e.g. hair drier, and pre-heat the iron itself to the Synthetic regime.
2. Place the patch in the intended location and cover it with a thin piece of light cotton fabric
3. Place the iron on the covered with fabric patch and firmly push with your weight for 40 sec, do not move the iron.
4. Iron the inner side also for 20-30 sec
5. Leave to cool down for 2-3 hours
6. We do recommend sewing on the patches, this is still the most reliable way to keep them in your desired place.
7. For delicate fabrics only sewing on is applicable. Most appropriate for iron-on are cotton, denim etc.

Please note: returns and exchanges are accepted for non-personalized and non-digital products within 14 days starting from the order arrival date. No additional cost for you if the product proved as originally dispatched broken. Please note: we check product quality and make photo fixation on every dispatched shipment. Returned products must be free of defects and unused. Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. We will refund the price of the products within 14 days after the return has arrived to us.
As per legislation, the right of return does not apply to customized products such as custom-made embroidered items. But please contact us, we will try to find a solution 🤝.
